On 9Jun we saw TEN white rhino at Nyamundwa Dam (near Phabeni) just after 16:00-ish. Some people in our (rather large) group have never seen a total of 10 never mind all in one go.

We go often, and it's the first time I've seen such a large group.

On our recent trip into Kruger we found 7 rhino together at the turn off to Renosterpan on the H3. That is certainly the most I have ever seen together.

Ore is the Bull Rhino that has recently been released in the Mooiplaas\Mopani area.

I was lucky enough to have met "Ore" once. I haven't seen him since he has been released, but I am sure that people might have had views of him and just didn't realize that he was the famous "Ore".

(Easily distincted by a missing right ear.)

I will get my pics uploaded and post them, "ore" was in the middle of the weird advantage taking episode near Mopanie a few months ago when he tried to mate with a dead hippo.

My simple country mind dont get this. Why is he called Ore (Ears) if he's only got one?

Hi BB

Its a bit like you calling yourself Bush Baptist.

To be honest, I was also intrigued by this name. But I suppose the name evolved from the " you know, that rhino with only one ear" to "rhino ear" to "ore". Our game capture guru Johan Malan named him. He says it just happened that way ...

Kind regards

There was a whole explanation of the ORE story on the Mopani Thread a while back ...

We saw a big one eared Rhino bull on the 26th July. It was on our way from Shimuwini to Phalaborwa on the H14 near the Nandzana water hole. It was crossing the road but stopped and turned towards us for about 30 seconds to check us out before it dissapeared into the Mopani.
