Hello,

I'm planning my trip to Kruger NP in the end of June next year, I'll have about 5 or 6 days in this park. What camps would you recommend as the best for wildlife viewing?

Thank you.

Satara for sure. Cat-country, and there is good viewing in every direction. Not my favorite camp as a place to rest my head, but the position within KNP can't be beat.

From there I'd suggest something in the South of the park. Lower Sabie or Skukuza.

If it's your first visit I would recommend 2 from Satara, Lower Sabie, Skukuza or Berg-an-Dal. Push to three if you must but keep moving to a minimum, it cuts down on viewing time as packing and unpacking is a chore.

Lots of general game all around, but a variety of landscapes in the camps I mentioned.

Hope this helps.

Sorry pva, I should have welcomed you to the forums.

Have a read through all the topics in the three Kruger boards, you find lots of information in there. If you don't find what you are looking for or you have a query, ask away. There is nothing we like better than to help planning a trip. And planning a trip is almost as exciting as the trip itself.

Hello pva..welcome to the forums.

It is all a matter of opinion, and in the end you will decide for your self, but you will be fine with 3 nights Satara, 3 nights Lower Sabie............you will have variety, but only one move!!

Have fun planning......and travel safely.

We will expect a Trip report when you return home.

Satara for sure
Also the area between Lower Sabie and Croc Bridge
They have never let me down especially in winter when you are planning your trip.

OK, thank you. This should be plenty for me, especially for the first time.

You may want to read the FAQ too. ;)

Welcome to the forums!
I agree with the previous suggestions. I would suggest something like Lower Sabie and Skukuza for the 'normal' experience, but also something like a bushcamp for the real feeling, like Tamboti. Then you can see the south, with plentiful game, and a bit of the middle, with chance of wild dogs, cheetah, and definitely lions.

The question is a little ambiguous ! It implies game viewing from the actual camp...Help!

For that Talamati is a perfect camp.

A warm welcome pva.

I would try to get into the Lower Sabie riverview tents. I have just returned and it is the best situation for viewing in every respect. If you are thinking of self drive, Satara without a doubt.

As Duco suggested, Talamiti is a lovely camp for "in house" viewing. It shares many of the Satara roads.

Welcome pva ..

Viewings from the camp .. Satara if you book a BD2V bungalow .. Lower Sabie river view tents (LST2U or LST2UZ) ...

As for driving around the camps .. Satara, Shingwedzi (my two favourite camps) and anywhere south (Skukuza downwards) should be good for viewing ...
