Hi Megan

Since the cheetah moms have now been single for about 6 months, is it not time for new cubs to be born soon? I hope to visit MZNP in December, so would be thrilled if there is news of new cubs before then!

Yes, there are now 17 cheetah in the Park. Nixi (one of the two adult females we originally introduced) has had her second litter of 6 cubs.

Hi Megan,

Have one of the Cheetah's died? You indicated that there are 17 now and when I check the math as follows: 2 males introduced + 2 females introduced + 8 cubs (first litters) + 6 cubs (Nixi's 2nd litter) I get 18.

MZNP is definately on my to do list for the hopefully not too distant future!

Thanks for the exciting news! At this rate MZNP will become THE destination for cheetah in this part of the world...
Was thinking of spending more time at Addo, but guess I will have to split the time between the two of them.
Please don't move any cheetahs away before Xmas!

Yes, Patto, one of the cheetah cubs did die (when fully grown), so your maths is correct.

Is there any news on how the cheetah cubs are doing? We will be visiting MZNP in june and hope to see a cheetah or two. Is the cheetah count for the park still 17?

We have been twice to MZNP in March with no Cheetah sightings. Going back in 2 weeks time to hopefully see some of these beautiful cats.

We also could not find the buffalo and there are supposed to be about 150 of them.

I guess you have to be in the right place at the right time...

i am also planning a visit in may to find cheetah! have been to KNP 13 times since 1995 AND have not seen cheetah!!!!!!

Hi Wanda,
We are currently taking stock of all the cheetah in the Park at moment. There are at least 30 cheetah and we're not sure how many small cubs.
Your best bet for sightings would be to check the new sightings board at reception and speak to the staff / rangers who are around the Park.

I'll be in mznp from saturday morning 7h00. i will let you knwo in the course of next week what we saw. I can honestly not wait for my 1st visit! :dance:

having not seen a cheetah in the wild since 1995, I really hope i chose the right park!
