Yes, I was going to put the area I just didn't know it,
But I have it now.

S137 croc bridge. On the way to the Duke waterhole. From what I have found it could be Nhlowa. Not sure about it. Thanks!!

Ossendryver,
Please don't be impatient. I hope you and others understand that I have a real full-time job and do all about the tuskers in my own / spare time. I try to give quick response but that is not always possible.

To my opinion you have seen tusker Thandamamba. ID based on tusks, shape/size and some more details.
Cannot see his right ear well, looks like he moved a bit when you photographed him.

Special sighting ! I hope he could deliver the young one to the right herd. It is known that other herds normally don't accept "strange" babies/youngsters.
Coming to your question: I can't ID him simply because I don't know any bull with just a left tusk like this one. Not among the tuskers at my site and I don't have such a tusker in my database.
Do you agree that I copy your pics to add to my database ?

[quote="adw"]Hello Aat, the day after the floods I came across this young elephant calf which had been separated from its mother. It was trying to feed off this large bull who seemed confused. The bull only had a left tusk of considerable size and I was asked if he was a known emerging tusker. Do you know this elephant. He was on the H1-3 just south of Kumana dam. Many thanks.

Good and wonderful news about tusker Ngunyupezi !!

Rarely seen over the years. First picture I saw of him was dated 2008, after that once reported in 2009 and once february 2010. Just received mail and photos made february 11th 2012. He is alive and in good condition.
Ngunyupezi is an officially named tusker and a special one. He "lives" in the Shingwedzi area and has a very long and thick left tusk..."growing" a bit backwards , straight downwards.

Here one of the photos I received by J van Rensburg which I like to share with you. So after two years of "no show"

Not too busy here , hope you liked the news about Ngunyupezi ?

Just added a new Tusker to the site. His name is SHISHA (named after little spruit near Babalala) where he has been photographed. I received pics of him end of 2010 and since no other entries till a few weeks ago. Time to add this one, with clear pics of all sides. Special with him, the left ear with a few larger notches and many very small one... ragged

Link to his page:

Thanks to both who sent the pictures to me.

ossendryver,
Not a named tusker.
My impression: not really a tusker or promising one. tusk does not look that long and thick.

@ All - About Mahlahini

I was busy with ID'ing some tusker pics sent to me.

Remarkable finding: I got some pics of a tusker made near Shingwedzi. Could not ID or find him in the database (north) but.... checking tuskers from other area's I could ID him as Mahlahini.
Mahlahini, so far only spotted in the Letaba area...so next to some other "travellers" Mahlahini's area is from Letaba to Shingwedzi... nice to see and learn...
